This Ted talk that was directed by Alanna Shaikh gives a lot of information about COVID-19 and how to prevent it. COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus because it is a new virus. This virus has spikes which are called corona, theses spikes help the process of infiltration. The fast spread of the virus is a big challenge for the health systems. For this reason it is important that countries share information and knowledge as soon as possible, and also get ready for emergencies in advance. Sheikha also made an important analysis about the fact that emergencies compound inequities and discriminations. She stated that quarantine doesn't help much, because symptoms may show after many days firm the infection, and so infected people may go around before being in quarantine and infect other people. Furthermore humans find it hard to stay isolated. Humans are social creatures and need to communicate with others, which is why, Shaikh said, quarantine isn't effective. Another thing logical to keep in mind is to wash your hands a lot. We touch a lot of things throughout the day and catch germs and we might catch the COVID-19 as well, so it is very important to wash your hands. Another thing to keep in mind is to not touch your face at all, even after washing your hands try to touch your face as less as possible, because the virus gets in your body through the respiratory system. Now for the face masks they are useless if you are not a doctor or not infected, that's because the virus can still enter through the holes that are between your face and the mask, so it is better to not buy the masks. Doctors need the masks because the know how to use them and can prevent being infected, and for the infected people masks stop the virus from spreading through the air, so leave the masks for others who actually need them.
Alanna Shaikh used ethos when she first started to show that she actually knows about what she is talking about. She also used pathos and logos along the speech, pathos to get the attention of the audience, and logos to show proof of the argument.

Contagion reflection
Contagion is a movie about a deadly disease that spread through Los Angeles and Australia, infecting and killing thousands in weeks. This movie is very similar to what the world looks like now, although it was made in 2011. The virus started with one man who infected his friend and then infected others on a flight, for then resulting in thousands of deaths. In the movie the disease wouldn't have spread in Los Angeles if that one man who decided to sneak out of the plane to finish his job didn't sneak out. The decision that man made was a really nonsense one because he should have been aware of the consequences, just like all the people that showed symptoms and decided to travel anyway. Later on in the movie the number of infections increase leading to a criminal case in which a medicine that could help was stolen. At the end a doctor found a cure for the virus and in a couple of weeks the pandemic would be over.
The movie relates to our world right now because of the first and most obvious reason which is that there is a pandemic. The second reason is that people are unaware of the consequences their actions might have like meeting too many people when they don't feel well, which is also what led to the pandemic. The third and last reason that makes the movie relatable to our world is that crime rates increase, criminals just want to put their hands on the medicines that would help everyone so they can cure or at least slow down the disease.
There are also some differences between the world and the movie, like the mortality rate of the two viruses, the one in the movie has a really high mortality rate which is for all ages, unlike the COVID-19 that has a really lower mortality rate which is mostly for elders, babies, and people with health issues. Another difference is the way the virus spreads, the movie focuses the virus in Los Angeles and Australia while the COVID-19 is all around the world.
The movie shows how every action has a consequence, like mentioned before the man who sneaked out the plane got and entire city infected. One little action can result in a terrible consequence, so when doing something you should always think of what can happen next.
